5-Day Bible Reading Plan and Devotional Guide
Victories Over Our Jerichos
Day 1: Seeing What God Has Already Declared
Reading: Joshua 6:1-2
Devotional: Before a single step was taken around Jericho's walls, God declared the city already given. The victory was spoken before it was seen. This is the nature of faith -- trusting the word of the One who stands outside of time. Your Jericho, whatever it is, looks massive, sealed shut, and unmovable. But God's declaration over your situation does not depend on what your eyes report. Ask yourself today: am I defining my battle through past failures and circumstances, or through the voice of God? His word is final. The WON is done.
Day 2: Walking Out What God Has Spoken
Reading: James 1:22-25
James warns against hearing God's word and walking away unchanged. The passage describes how a person who hears but does not act is like someone who glances at their own reflection and immediately forgets what they look like. Devotional: Joshua did not hold a pep rally. He did not wait for the perfect conditions. He lined the people up in the order God prescribed and got to stepping. Faith without corresponding action is incomplete. God's word to you is not meant to be admired from a distance -- it is meant to be walked out one obedient day at a time. What step have you been delaying?
Day 3: Trusting God's Strategy Over Your Own
Reading: Proverbs 3:5-7
This passage calls believers to trust God completely rather than leaning on their own understanding, promising that He will direct the path of those who acknowledge Him in all their ways. Devotional: God's battle plan for Jericho made no military sense. Walking in circles was not in any warrior's handbook. Yet Joshua, a seasoned man of war, leaned in, listened, and let God be God. How often do we reject God's direction because it does not match our expectations? His ways are not our ways. The strategy He gives you for your Jericho may look foolish to the world. Walk it out anyway. His plans do not fail.
Day 4: Living in the Shalls, Not the Maybes
Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:13
This verse assures believers that God is faithful and will not allow them to be tempted beyond what they can bear, and that He always provides a way of escape so that they can endure. Devotional: The walls of Jericho did not fall on day one. They did not fall on lap six. They fell when the people completed every single shall God had commanded. Timid faith falls no walls. Many Jerichos remain standing in our lives not because God has withheld victory, but because we have settled into maybes, good intentions or “get around to its”. God's commands are not suggestions. They are invitations into the impossible made possible. Stop stalling. Start shalling.
Day 5: Shouting Before the Walls Fall
Reading: Philippians 1:6
This verse expresses Paul's confidence that the God who began a good work in believers will carry it through to completion by the day of Christ Jesus. Devotional: The shout at Jericho came before the rubble settled. The people did not shout because they saw the walls fall -- the walls fell because they obeyed God’s instruction to shout with a great shout. There is a shout God is calling out of you today. It is a shout of confidence in His faithfulness, a declaration that He who started something in your life will finish it. Whatever wild frontier stands before you, God has not abandoned the work. Write down your Jericho. Commit to the shalls. And shout with a great shout.
